Surviving motherhood is a challenging task for most is at most times in our lives. There is no handbook on how to be a good parent so we do the best we can. There are so many things we look back on and wish we had some wise fairy godmother to have come and whispered words of wisdom into our ears in hindsight. This book is literally a survival handbook on how to cope with challenging situations with our new babies and toddlers. Just hearing “you’ve got this” at breaking points can be a game changer. Reading not to take ourselves so seriously and “to pick” our battles helps make life so much easier and simpler. Mother guilt is a real thing and reading about the author and what she went through makes my life seem normal. Knowing all the things I’m experiencing is normal is life-changing for me. So many situations are so relatable in this book. I love the song playlist so much as I personally connect with music when life runs away with me a little. It’s well written and so funny. I look forward to anything more that comes from her adventures as her minions grow up.
I’d recommend this book to any 1st time mums out there.
What an absolute pleasure this book is, Winging it : Surviving the Chaos of Motherfknhood. S lovely read well edited, and an absolutely witty, clever, and knowledgeable true life story. Every mother and mother-to-be should read it; truly a joy.
I LOVED the book! Finished it today. It's easy and funny to read and had covered everything a mom could question. In fact, I felt exhausted remembering how tough motherhood was, total chaos.
You make us all feel like we are not alone, are doing a good job, and are worthy. I really enjoyed it and could have done with these tips 30 years ago. I wish you the best of luck with it. You have lots to offer other mommies.
I also think that the resources for PPD are excellent!
I just finished Winging It and honestly? It felt like therapy, wine, and a hug all rolled into one. I laughed, I cried, and I nodded a lot. This book is so real—no sugar-coating, no fake Pinterest mom vibes—just pure, relatable chaos and love. The stories made me feel like I’m not alone in this mess, and the humor? Spot on. It’s like Mel climbed into my brain and wrote down everything I’ve been too tired to say out loud. Highly recommend for any mom who's ever felt overwhelmed, exhausted, and completely in love with her kids all at once.
An absolute delight! A true to life comical view of motherhood with hard hitting truths of the wonderful journey.
